Wow, congratulation you have got an Apple Laptop…… you know what I was thinking to buy an ipad as well…..
Well the question is do people really feel happy when buying these things or they just show off? It cant be possible to feel happy by mentioning materialistic buyings. It seems that people do feel satisfied by mentioning their shopping, bills, cars and other new technological items they have bought few days back.
Another fact related to this show off is to feel happy and overcome the depression deep inside. The process of this overcoming starts with observing others doing well in their lives and as a result one feels depressed. In return most of the people come up with untruthful stories, exaggerated stories of buying expensive items and most of all this feeling of left behind forces one to start something to win the race with others.
This kind of show off and race winning things is very common among relatives, classmates, friends and siblings (especially those who are married). It is not quite important to show off for feeling happy and satisfied but this has become a trend now days. It has become quite important to compete with those who are rich. Everyone wants to have expensive brands in their closets, expensive shoes, branded bags, jewellery and most of all incomparable items such as mobiles, laptop, and all other costly items and services available at the moment.
Its not only about expensive items in fact the list is longer than this. Internet connection, mobile balances, area one is residing in, car, bedroom furniture, decoration items etc. It seems our minds have been hypnotised. We have got addicted to such materialistic things and pay no attention to other important things such as respect, emotions, human beings, relationships, feelings and most of all family.
On the other hand it is nothing wrong in feeling happy when buying things you wanted to buy, and it is quite obvious to feel happy for things other people rarely have. But the point is why do people show off. It should be kept in mind that it might be possible that somebody could get upset, depressed and even get fed-up with their lives just because they see others having expensive things which they can’t even think to buy.
This could be one of the reasons why poor people have started hating elites. Elites should make sure that their actions are not poking poor and not disturbing them. It is quite useful if we start observing the facial expressions and emotional state of one who is poor and do not have enough money to get his kids educated; meanwhile when this person sees someone in BMW, CIVIC, TOYOTA and sees kids having expensive toys, remote cars, colourful cloths what sort of emotional state of mind he would be in!
Have you seen Cash and carry Metro in I-11 Islamabad which is located opposite to slum. Well where these big stores are meant to provide cheap, whole sale bulk items it has an entry card requirement as well. It is true that it is meant for businessmen but what about those people who see rich entering in the store but poor cant because they do not have card. In countries like UK and USA they have better stores such as Tesco, Sainsbury, Macro, Walmart etc, every other citizen is permitted to enter the store and shop there. But when it comes to Pakistan we have “Rules, requirements, registration etc” but only for poor.
It is a serious problem going on in the country and we must try to understand others feelings. If YOU want to see Pakistan in good position, try to make a difference. Rules once are habits tomorrow!!! Save humanity, save Pakistan.
