“Today is a black day of my life & same for Pakistan because I lost my princess colleague & Pakistan lost her own Pakistani ” – Bill Gates said on the death of our sister and daughter of the nation. “Arfa Karim”.
It was the year 1995 when a daughter was born in Jatt Randhawa folks in Faisalabad, Pakistan. A girl who became the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional at the age of 9. She had the opportunity to meet Bill Gates. Her converse and imagination was so constructive and encouraging in her early teens that one can barely have at this early age. She was the pride of Pakistan and made each Pakistani proud of her. She is one and only Arfa Karim.
This wonder child was more than a child and an intellectual. At the age of 9 when other kids are struggling in their studies and usually spend their time in other activities, this girl became youngest MCP. She had the power to make her dreams come true. There were lots of things in her interviews one can learn. One runs short of words when it comes to extol and admire her abilities and strengths. Knowledge has no limits and no age barrier has Arfa has proved it.
According to her computer was a magic box. This was the way computer seemed to her when she was 9. Once in her interviews, she stated that a child in her early age can learn more as compared to adults. All of her statements were quite mature and she seemed sensible only when she was quite young. While watching her interviews I felt that she is more than a youngest MCP.
She looked confident, mature and a person with dazzling ideas for the country as well as for the entire world. She received Jinnah Gold Medal, Salam Pakistan Youth Award and Pride of Performance Award. This made her the youngest recipient of the award. She has represented Pakistan on International Forums. Besides all these eminences, she flew a plane at the age of 10 and received first flight certificate at Dubai Flying Club. All of these things make her precious girl for the entire nation.
We all have dreams to do something for ourselves, our parents, our country but she proved that there is something more than that and that’s to have a place in nation’s heart. She was determined and followed her goals. An energetic, confident, lively and vigorous girl who is now a role model for most of us. Apart from all these astonishing excellencies she sang ghazals as well.
These were the qualities that were discovered and recognized which forces me think that there must be other surprising qualities in her, but unfortunately she has complete her lifespan.
It was quite disturbing and depressing when she was shown on Television having an Oxygen Mask on her face, lying on the bed, closed eyes and it was reported that she is in coma. The same girl with bright eyes, smile on her face and word of wisdom coming out of her mouth was an entirely different story to what was show in TV.
This gifted girl felt desperately ill and was admitted in CMH Lahore. She suffered brain haemorrhage that left her in coma. A wave of happiness went through our hearts when on 13th of January Arfa started improving and showed signs of improvements but this was for short period of time. It was decided to take Arfa to US for care but she complete her life duration and changed in to a bright star on the sky rather than on earth.
On January 14, 2012 (at the age of 16) Arfa Karim died at CMH, Lahore at 9:50 PM which is a great loss for the entire world. You were a mode of inspiration for the entire nation particularly youth. We have lost one of the most precious pearls of Pakistan. May your soul rest in peace and may Allah bless you with his blessing in the second world (AMEN)
English Translation of what her mother said:
Few days before she said that my 17th birthday is coming and I want to celebrate it differently. Today I want to tell my daughter that your wish has been completed. I cannot bear the words and feelings of people when they come to me and talk about my daughter. When I miss her I take her cloths out and smell them. She used to start her morning, afternoon and night with reading. She used to sing very nice. Last song she sang was “Anokha Ladla by Tina Sani. I use her perfumes and can smell her.
